Therapy for those who serve — in blue light and the armed forces.
A space that understands the culture, pressure and transitions of life in uniform — whether you are still serving or have left it behind.
You don't have to explain the world you came from.
I spent thirteen years in frontline public service. I know the culture, the humour, the shift work, the sense of being "always on," and the difficulty of explaining any of it to someone outside that culture.
A familiar glow: the world you work in doesn't need explaining here.
That experience is part of why I offer dedicated therapy for people in the emergency services and armed forces — including police officers, paramedics, firefighters, prison staff, and serving or former military personnel.
Common reasons people get in touch
Operational stress, hypervigilance and difficulty switching off
Bereavement, trauma or moral injury
Relationship strain and the impact of shift work on family life
Transition out of service — identity, purpose and "what comes next"
Anxiety, low mood or burnout
Working in a toxic team culture where you're only safe if you're "in" with the right people — and the isolation that follows if you're not
How I work
I work in the Gestalt tradition, which means we pay attention to what is happening for you in the present — including your body, your relationships and the systems you live and work in. There is no pressure to perform or to translate your experience into language that fits a civilian frame.
Sessions are available online or in person at St Albans Rooms in St Albans Town Centre or at The Oak House Studio & Therapies in Old Hatfield.
